Sohaila Maleki, DVM

Dr. Sohaila Maleki is one of the founding veterinarians of Habitat Veterinary Hospital and the heart behind its holistic, team-centered approach to veterinary care. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University and completed her clinical training at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2004.

After graduation, she returned to Boise, where she had lived since 1993, and partnered with Dr. Reed Linenberger to build a practice rooted in compassion, education, and whole-pet wellness. In 2007, Habitat Veterinary Hospital opened its doors as a one-room clinic—and has since grown into a multi-location practice serving both the Treasure Valley and the Wood River Valley.

Dr. Maleki is trained in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) and integrates Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) with modern Western therapies. She has a special interest in geriatric medicine and takes a preventative, multi-modal approach to pain management and quality-of-life care. Her focus on nutrition, internal medicine, and integrative therapies supports long-term health and well-being for pets at every stage of life.

While Dr. Maleki no longer sees routine appointments, she plays an essential leadership role across both locations. Her focus is on mentoring the medical team, guiding treatment plans, and ensuring that every patient receives thoughtful, high-quality care. She believes that a well-supported, unified veterinary team is the most powerful tool for delivering exceptional medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Maleki balances her time between Habitat and her family. She and Dr. Linenberger are parents to two teenagers—Rowan, an active and kind-hearted athlete, and Finley, a creative and adventurous spirit.
